Emily Sue... The summer of "almost five"

Sister Sue. My little Princess. My Beauty.
God knew me well when He gave me her. He knew that if I was gonna have a baby girl, she would have to be gorgeous. No questions asked!

Yes. I'm a tad vain. This trait has definitely passed on to my little miss. She loves to put on makeup and go around kissing mirrors. I currently have a kiss print on my front storm door! She works on her hair several times a day gathering up every clippy in the house and pinning them just so. She will come out with a rainbow of pins and a proud look on her face. It reminds me of my 4th grade picture where mom let me curl my own hair and I had the curling iron flipped the wrong way so my curls had a crease. I still shake my head and wonder why my mom didnt teach me better beauty tips.
But yea- moving off that topic!
I've spent the majority of this summer talking with Emi about how she is almost five now. I still look at her and see that tiny 2 and 3 year old. I must admit I let her get away with way to much because she is "little". I'm starting to feel the repercussions of that. Oops.

"Emi, you need to clean your room."
"Waaaah!" *as she crumples to the floor*

"Emi, you need to eat your dinner."
"Waaaah! I just want a sandwich!" *as she crumples to the floor*

"Emi will you help me pick up all these shoes and take them to the closets?"
"Waaaah! Do I have to?" *as she crumples to the floor*

I sit and I shake my head. When did
this happen?! She used to love helping, and eating, and... Well never cleaning... But she used to love life and it seems the crying has just quadrupled over night!
"Emi you are almost five years old. It's time to start acting like a big girl."
Sigh.
She is sneaky. Kinda reminds me of myself! Again. When I was a kid I would always disappear for a bathroom break so I wouldn't have to clean the kitchen with my sister after dinner, and now I find Emi doing exactly that. Bathroom breaks when its time to clean.
But you got to love those long eye lashes and that dimple. Those little finger nails that she keeps biting but begs to have painted weekly. The sweet songs sung in the perfect-completely-incomprehensible- falsetto while she plays in 'Emi's Imaginary Land'.
I guess I can let her stay four a little while longer.
